It’s time to take out the walking sticks and plan for the Alpine Hiking Season! Spring is amazing when it is not raining or cloudy and one of my favourite places to go to test my endurance and non-existent inner thigh muscles is Lauterbrunnen Valley.
There are many hiking paths to choose from and the views are breathtaking, from up high, or down below. Choose your cable car destination and simply start walking. Crystal clean air with a whiff of pine, the crunchy gravel and of course, the occasional “Grüezi” greeting from fellow hikers all make for a pleasant hike.
If you wish to stay on ground level, the path from Mürren to Lauterbrunnen is dotted with farm houses selling fresh produce and need I mention… 72 waterfalls to take your breath away.
The photos here does not really do justice to the amazing contrasts and screensaver perfection of this UNESCO World Heritage site.
